Management

Hep-Art is managed by Robert Chamuleau, the principal investigator heading the AMC-BAL research team, and Jan Apers (CEO). Their individual strengths are combined to form a committed management team with a shared vision.

Robert A.F.M. Chamuleau, MD, PhD, Scientific Director

Dr. Chamuleau (CSO) is a hepatologist at the Academic Medical Center Amsterdam and an associate professor at the University of Amsterdam. He supervised the development of the AMC-BAL and is responsible for the current R&D as well as the coordination of the clinical trial. Dr. Chamuleau is recognized as a leading scientist in the field of bio-artificial liver devices and has a strong international network.

Jan Apers MSc, CEO

Jan Apers, economist, is responsible for the general management of Hep-Art. He has worked at the Municipality of Amsterdam as CFO of Amsterdam Water Supply. He is also an examiner for the postmaster training courses Chartered Accountant and Chartered Controller at the University of Tilburg and the Free University in Amsterdam.
